EVALUATION OR ASSESSMENT II CODE: 31124

CONTENT:

UNIT 1.- Introduction to F.L.T.A. (Foreign Language Teaching and Assessment):
-Purpose of Evaluation and Testing.
-Definitions and processes involved in Testing, Measurements, Assessment and Evaluation:
Objective & subjective Tests.

UNIT 2.- Design and administration of TESTS in F.L.T.A.
-Integrative and Pragmatic Tests.
-Tests items to assess vocabulary & grammar.
-Integrative & pragmatic test items to assess comprehension and production

UNIT 3.- Alternative Assessment strategies and instruments in F.L.T.A. Design and application of A.A. strategy.
-Basic tenets of A.A.
-Integrated Performance Assessment -IPA-
-A.A. strategies:
  • Oral Language Assessment
  • Reading Assessment
  • Writing Assessment
  • Content and/or area Assessment
  • Portfolio Assessment

    COURSE ACTIVITIES: The proposed content will be developed by means of :
    • WORKSHOPS: Analysis and group discussion of basic definitions,  theories and tennets of assessment processes studied.
    • REPORTS: conclusions after analysis and group discussion of assigned topics in Blog entries and Workshops.
    • INSTRUMENTS DESIGN: design and administration of tests and assessment strategy to be applied in class and co-evaluated by partners.
    • PRESENTATION: group research and speeches about assessment strategy.
